Review of Pignose 7-100 Guitarcombo Simple as can be - analog and solid state with no redundant effects; it marries well with whatever favourite effects we own already without bringing its own built in distractions. I pair mine with a tiny cheap MS-50g multieffect unit to bring it up to date with modern expectations but it doesn't need it; more often than not I plug in direct, it sounds so good by itself!
It responds really well to picking dynamics and use of a guitar's volume control; possibly better than many other more modern digital modellers.
It has a long and distinguished history and has been used on many notable recordings by distinguished artists such as Clapton, Macca and Zappa.
It's small and loud with a mojo all its own. Great for blues and rock - It'll clean up well enough with the guitar volume rolled back although perhaps not quite to as pristine glassy clean as some might desire. It's probably not the best choice for high gain music genres like metal either.
There's one more portable space saving feature: it opens up and you can keep accessories inside. Mine stores 5 harmonicas, a guitar slide, picks and capo, a small mic and a 2m cable!
