The sound is the epitome of 'classic', whether you want to play rock, country, blues, jazz, punk, heavy metal. The list of players who use this instrument would stagger the imagination. Why is this bass so cherished? For me, besides the obvious great tone beloved by generations of bass players, it's the simplicity of the design. Two knobs, tone and volume. When I play, I take all the tone out of my amp and use the knobs on the bass to dial up my sounds. It's so delightfully simple. If you turn the tone knob to the lowest setting, you've got a big, fat, round sound that can't fail. If you turn it the other way, you've got a spiky, aggressive treble sound. And there are lots of wonderful sounds in between. Other things you'll love: The finish is spectacular and, even after a few years, mine still looks great. The neck is reinforced; the tuners are rock-solid (I can play this baby on stage for HOURS and it never goes out of tune!)and the bridge is really nice so there's lots of sustain.
