A Vintage Guitar Heaven - Musicngear Visits GuitarPoint in Frankfurt
As part of our recent trip to Germany and Thomann Headquarters, we had the pleasure of visiting GuitarPoint in Frankfurt, a renowned store that has established itself as a sanctuary for vintage guitar enthusiasts, collectors, and musicians.
Located in the heart of Germany, GuitarPoint is well-known globally for its impressive selection of vintage, used, and Custom Shop guitars and it truly lived up to its reputation.
With each guitar boasting its own story, GuitarPoint offers an inspiring experience for anyone passionate about music and the history of these fine instruments.
GuitarPoint began its journey in 2001 with the vision of becoming a leading provider of high-quality guitars and amplifiers. Over time, it evolved into a specialist in premium vintage guitars and amplifiers, gaining a reputation as Europe’s foremost dealer in this niche.
GuitarPoint now serves a loyal following of guitar lovers, collectors, and even celebrities from all over the world. In addition to their impressive physical store in Maintal near Frankfurt, GuitarPoint runs a steadily growing online business and a popular YouTube channel, where customers can see and hear the instruments in action.
Since 2018, GuitarPoint has partnered with Musikhaus Thomann, Europe’s largest music retailer, combining expertise to meet the unique needs of vintage guitar enthusiasts.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Guitarpoint CEO, Simon Gauf, who guided us on an exclusive tour of the store.
We began at the bench where newly arrived guitars are meticulously inspected before joining the rest of the collection. Each guitar is treated with the reverence it deserves, and seeing the process firsthand was fascinating.
GuitarPoint in Frankfurt - a haven for guitar lovers.
Their soundproofed amp room, where a brand-new brown leather couch had just arrived, offers a cozy and welcoming space to try out gear. Lined with a remarkable selection of vintage guitar amps, it’s the perfect spot to “test drive” a guitar and explore any vintage amp that catches your eye.
In this quiet setting, you can fully experience the character and soul of each instrument without interruption.
I was fortunate enough to try out a vintage 1957 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst, which was priced at €42,500.
The guitar was a beauty, and I was amazed by the softness of the fretboard—a testament to its well-preserved condition.
The store layout itself is a treat to explore, with a stunning array of guitars neatly organized and displayed across the walls. From Fender to Gibson, and rare vintage models to newer Custom Shop creations, GuitarPoint has something for every taste.
The carefully curated displays allow you to easily browse and appreciate the individuality of each guitar. The assortment of guitars at premium prices truly reflects the quality and rarity of the instruments available.

As we wrapped up our visit, Simon gifted us a GuitarPoint T-shirt, a gesture we truly appreciated! GuitarPoint left a lasting impression on us, not just for its remarkable inventory but also for the warm and inviting atmosphere created by the team.
If you’re ever in Frankfurt and have a love for guitars, GuitarPoint is an unmissable stop. Thank you to the entire GuitarPoint team for an unforgettable experience!
