SAFIRE: Enter the World of EROTICA
Desire, power, fantasy and self-authorship collide in SAFIRE’s darkest world yet.

With EROTICA, the Hackney-born Irish-British artist turns desire, power and vulnerability into a dark club-pop world where bass, falsetto vocals, violin, fetish-inspired styling and religious imagery exist in the same strange room. The song doesn't simply ask to be heard. It asks to be looked at.
That has always been part of SAFIRE's language. Inspired by artists such as Madonna, Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson, as well as the gothic worlds of Tim Burton and films like Edward Scissorhands and The Addams Family, she treats music as something larger than the track itself. Every visual, movement, costume and symbol becomes another piece of the mythology.
But EROTICA isn't interested in provocation for its own sake. Beneath the latex, darkness and confrontation is a much more human question: what happens when we stop being ashamed of what we desire?
SAFIRE describes the artwork as a mirror. One person sees freedom. Another sees blasphemy. Someone else sees confidence, or attention-seeking. The image remains the same; the person looking at it changes.
Perhaps that is where SAFIRE becomes most interesting.
She is not trying to tell the audience what to see. She is building the room and leaving the mirror inside it.
EROTICA arrived independently on August 7, continuing a creative journey that has already taken SAFIRE from BBC Radio 1 and Rinse FM support to stages including Scala London, Electrowerkz and 2000 Trees Festival. Her next chapter will bring the project to BBC Live Lounge in October.
For now, the door is open.
