Swamp Dogg - Daddy's Little Girl

This is a great Modern Blues ballad. The organ gives the song so much depth sonically. I’m a big fan of raw vocals where they haven’t been ‘tuned’ through AutoTune or Melodyne. This is a reminder of how old Blues and soul records were made, by people singing into a microphone. I feel the human soul comes through in the process and isn’t sucked out through the latest technology. This is a cool and emotional track.

Brother Bicker Band - Night With You

This is a great Blues/Roots Rock tune with tinges of country. The songwriting sounds old school with slick modern production. It is a feel-good tune that would be perfectly at home on the soundtrack of the movie ‘RoadHouse’. The musicians are tight, with a guitar player who probably spent a long time nailing the perfect Blues tone. This is a great track!

North Beach Gritty - Maybe Don't

Article photo - The New Blues Sound - Modern Blues, Blues Rock, Soul & Roots Rock - July 2026

If you like Blues artists like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Gary Moore, you will love this band! It starts with a low, swampy guitar riff over a slow triplet beat, giving a feel of traditional old-school blues. Emotion pours out singers voice, which makes it easy to connect with the song. The doubled guitars create a fat sound while the band plays unison accents throughout the whole song. This is a cool track!

Murray and The Movers - I Put a Spell on You

I really liked the production on this song. It is raw and really lets the emotion of the vocalist hit home. The guitar is very high in the mix and has the perfect amount of reverb. I have heard other covers of this song, but I like this stripped-down version. Not having drums and bass makes it easy to connect to the lyrics and hear the nuances of the vocals.

Ben Poole - No Second Chances

This awesome track mashes up Blues with Rock and Soul. It starts with a cool lo-fi filter on the drums, which is used to build the song. The guitar riff is instantly memorable, with a dirty distortion and the right amount of reverb. This song goes through many dynamic moods, with the vocalist adding great soulful vocals with almost RnB harmonies. There is a ripping guitar solo at 4.43. Check out this great artist!

Bywater Call - Is This Thing On?

Article photo - The New Blues Sound - Modern Blues, Blues Rock, Soul & Roots Rock - July 2026

This is a super interesting song, as I found it hard to really put in a box stylistically. The undercurrent is blues, given the chord structure and tone of the vocalist. There is also a real roots vibe with the instrumentation. The subtle strings and sparse percussion make this a very unique and cool song.

Alex Bender - Ocean Blue Eyes

This track has the right amount of blues, pop, and Rock. It seems like it could easily be on a radio station playing contemporary hits. The hooks are very strong, and the vocalist has the right amount of low-end in his voice, which always works well on a blues track. There are pop songwriting conventions in this easy-listening track.

Steve Louw - Echo Dream

This really is a beautiful song! The vibrato on the guitar makes the notes sing and convey emotion. I am a fan of the vocalist, as I feel his pure tone makes it easy to believe the words he sings. You will love this track if you like old-school country artists like Willie Nelson. It is music that feels like it was made from the heart, not to generate hype.

The Heat Inc. - Mind Control

This song is on the darker spectrum of blues rock.  The loud guitars are the dominant force in the mix.  Haunting vocals are used to get the song's message across.  The drummer and bassist are a tight rhythm section, creating a groove for the guitars to play over.

Chris O'Leary - After 2 A.M

Chris O ‘Leary is an incredibly talented musician. This song has a swampy shuffle beat that is incredibly authentic. The piano has an old-school honky tonk feel. The vocals convey the Blues genre in its purest form. This is a group of musicians who have spent thousands of hours honing their craft. You will love this track if you like artists like Blues legend Jeff Healy. Please check out this artist; it is a travesty that he doesn’t have millions of listens. This is exceptional music.
