I'm always excited to hear new music, especially from underground bands. I'm focusing on 3 types of Metal: Heavy Metal with the grit and fury to match the season, Progressive Metal with intricate structures and mind-twisting musicianship, and Power Metal which arrives with its trademark heroics, elevating every moment with colossal riffs, sky-high vocals, and tales worthy of legend.

November's lineup delivers all of it: thunderous aggression, dazzling technical mastery, and anthems built to shake the cold right out of your bones. Crank the volume, brace yourself, and dive into the latest wave of molten metal madness.

The Metal Inferno - Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Metal

Fallen Shadows - Torture and Faith

This is a great modern Heavy Metal track. The drummer is phenomenal, navigating full-on double bass and double-time assaults. His bass drum work is impeccable. The guitars are heavy and distorted, although not so heavy that the mix is affected.

I like that this song builds, and the guitar solo really takes its time to reach a crescendo.

Ashes Awaken - A Better Way

This track is a mix of melodic and Power Metal. It starts with unison guitars and accents with the band. I'm super impressed with the guitar player's tone, as it sounds like an incredible amount of time was taken in production to get such a clear and soulful sound.

The drummer plays a solid groove with a strong backbeat, allowing the singer to express emotion through the vocals. His range is very impressive, spanning multiple octaves. A really great track.

Prometheus Rising - In the Search of the Gods

The singer of this band is seriously impressive. He has a vocal range that most opera singers would envy. Listen to this track at 1.25 to hear the high note he hits so effortlessly. The guitar parts are doubled, and it is easy to see how technically proficient the musicians are in this band.

The chorus has a great and memorable hook, which will have you singing it long after you have listened to it.

In Virtue - Karma Loop feat. Charlotte Wessels

This track is a mix of Power and progressive metal. It's impressive to hear a drummer play that fast and precisely. The male singer can handle notes in both the lower and upper registers. His voice also blends well with the female singer in the choruses. The guitars are clean and play sweeping riffs during the chorus and intro. They are detuned in the verses to give the song extra grunt.

Kylver - The Frozen Sands

This song is a mix of progressive Metal and Power metal, although it has elements of music set for a film score. It is unusual to hear chorus and flanger guitar pedals in a lot of Metal, but this really helps change the song's dynamic for the better.

The song is over 10 minutes long, which allows the band to take their time in each section. The progressive metal elements are the odd time change into three-fourths, with the band playing unison parts.

Scythe For Sore Eyes - 25.8609

This song is a serious mash-up of styles: classic Heavy Metal guitar riffs, Power Metal vocals and hardcore screaming male vocals.

What makes this song interesting is that the rhythm is an 'Implied' shuffle. That means it is based on triplets. The main distorted guitar riff is playing accented triplets. The reason this is unusual is that this rhythm is usually heard in blues and country, and Western music. There are a few Metal songs with this feel.

This band does a great job of making something difficult sound easy.

Bloodbound - Field of Swords

This band has clearly spent a lot of time rehearsing and playing live together. It is evident in how tight the musicians are with each other. It has elements of both power and progressive metal.

The singer's vocal chops and control of his vibrato are seriously impressive. The drummer gives forward momentum to the song, playing a double bass drum pattern through the verses and choruses.

Frozen Land - Dead End

This epic Power metal tune would be amazing to see live. The backing vocals are evidence of musicians who really understand complex harmony. The guitarist has impeccable technique, playing fast 16th note phrases effortlessly. Make sure you listen to the drummer in the song's outro as he plays 16th note triplets on the bass drums. Amazing!

Darktribe - I Walk Alone

This Progressive Metal song uses some unusual instruments to make its music sound cinematic. The bells in the intro are a nice touch as they really change the feel of the song. The bass guitarist plays a lot ot straight 8th and 16th notes to give a pulsating feel to the music. The singer's range is high enough for him to feel comfortable in the tenor and soprano spaces. A well put together track.

Eons Enthroned - Visions of War

This Power Metal track has a female vocalist with a versatile range. The drummer shifts from double-time beats to halftime in the breakdown. His fast double bass pedal work is incredible. The guitars play some parts in unison and other parts in harmony, giving a great variation on the melody.

The guitar solo shows a musician with enormous talent and musicality.
