The Metal Inferno - February 2026
Ten tracks of firepower from heavy, progressive and power metal's fiercest new voices.
Featuring Fields of Næcluda, Seven Eyed Crow, Forcefed Horsehead, Lightning Strikes, Unchosen Ones, Abstracted, Wolverine, Full House Brew Crew, Flowerleaf, and Greyhawk.

I want to delve into the three commanding forces of the metal genre: Heavy Metal, delivering crushing riffs and ironclad intensity; Progressive Metal, bending time and structure with technical mastery and fearless creativity; and Power Metal, surging ahead with triumphant choruses, heroic storytelling, and sky-splitting speed. Although there are many technical aspects that separate these styles, Metal is the common link.

Fields of Næcluda - Circles

This is a great progressive Metal track. It really focuses on melody, even during the heavier parts of the song. It is a slow tempo, but still manages to have complex drum rhythms and guitars with the perfect amount of distortion. There are numerous dynamic changes that demonstrate great versatility among the musicians.

Seven Eyed Crow - Gaslighted

This is a great track! Although it's probably closer to progressive rock, the tuned-down guitars help it slide into the Metal category. The opening guitar riff is heavy and grooves incredibly hard. It is the result of musicians spending countless hours in the studio to get this feel perfect. The singer has incredible chops, which let him shift octaves effortlessly.

Forcefed Horsehead - Promisebreaker

This song has a lot of influences: Metal, Thrash, and even Punk. It starts with a solo riff that sounds like it is being run through a flanger pedal. All hell breaks loose as soon as the vocals and rums kick in! It is definitely an assault on your ears in the best way possible. The double time feel and hardcore energy is kept up for the entire song.

Lightning Strikes - Fear of Unknown
This band has incredibly talented musicians. There are so many complex changes in this nearly 7-minute track. The main riff has the perfect amount of distortion, and the drum beat underneath it makes it quite funky, although this is a power metal song.
The singer has incredible power in both chest and head voice. I really loved this track!

Unchosen Ones - Idols & Kings
This song has all the elements that make Power Metal great. The harmony guitar parts are layered perfectly. The drummer plays a consistent double bass groove throughout the song.
This singer stays in the upper register and has an incredible soprano range. This song should be an instant classic!

Abstracted - Axis
This is a really well-produced progressive Metal track. Odd time signatures move throughout the song, showing the high level of musicianship. The drummer plays a lot of syncopated double bass beats while the guitar and bass player play many unison lines. The singer excels in the low register.

Wolverine - A Sudden Demise
This song is incredibly well mixed! The keyboards and guitar are never fighting for space in the upper register. I love prog Metal for its complex changes in time. The halftime versus really gives the singer a chance to display his incredible vocal chops. The guitar, bass, and drums are incredibly tight, which can only be achieved through countless hours of rehearsals and gigs. This is a great tune!

Full House Brew Crew - Glasgow Grin
This song mixes Metal/Hardcore and Thrash into the mix. The detuned guitars create an extra-heavy feel. The drummer lays down a mid-tempo groove that is solid and moves the song forward. The singer's low growls evoke the emotion of angst, which will set the mosh pit on fire at a live gig.

Flowerleaf - Sandman
This Power Metal track has almost cinematic vibes in the intro with low harmonies and drone sounds. The female singer is amazing and really focuses on the song's melody. The vocal harmonies are close together which is a classic staple of this genre. The drummer is outstanding! Playing double bass drum patterns with laser-like precision at incredibly fast tempos takes the endurance of an athlete!

Greyhawk - Ascension
I loved this Power Metal song because it has a shuffle feel. This is incredibly hard to pull off in this style of music. The guitar plays a broken triplet rhythm part, which really helps the song breathe. His use of sweep picking in the guitar solo is flawless. Although the song is just over 4 minutes long, there are many great dynamic changes. The bass player is super solid and is right in the pocket with the drummer, who has a great feel.
