Just Chilling - Vol 6
Volume 6 of Just Chilling features; gorgeous neo-soul that functions as a love letter to Mother Earth (play this while you water and mist your houseplants), a magical aquatic soundscape that fuses island sounds with the worlds of the sea and tidepools, warm, old school hip-hop drenched in the mysteries of midnight, celestial pads that lead into ambient drum and bass, Halloween infused Hip-Hop, and much more.
Featuring Andrew Pekler, Zaska, Melina Malone, edbl, Posner, Surekid, Sad Falafel, XSARPROD and Dorkus64.
Shima No Yume- Andrew Pekler
This is taken from ‘Aquapelago; An Oceans Anthology’- an album that is an “anthology introducing the first of a series of albums based on the concept of Aquapelago”. This unique concept results in an auditory experience that is unlike anything you have heard before.
‘Shima No Yume’ opens with gorgeous island and aquatic sounds mixed together, melting together with bell-like synths, giving everything a slightly otherworldly feel. The lush, tropical sound design morphs into something slightly dreamlike and surreal; the instrumentation capturing the glimmering of an azure underwater world. There are times when you need to listen to something that will thoroughly transport you to another location; this being an example of one of these.
Just For One Day - Zaska feat Melina Malone (edbl remix)
If I was to describe this song with one word - it would be nourishing.
Just For One Day is a love song to Mother Earth; the original being warm neo-soul, with gorgeously gentle vocals ( a collaboration between Irish artists Zaska and Melina Malone); the remix by edbl retaining this balmy, caramel like quality, but adding light gentle synthesis - resulting in a delightfully chilled out, thoroughly meditative remix.
Coffee Computer - Patricia
Taken from the EP ‘Less Than 7’ - this is a chilled, curiosity inducing, thoroughly original journey through electronics. Opening with slightly experimental percussion, over which slightly detuned pads melt ( everything possessing a gorgeous analog quality) - all flowing together to meet an acid bassline - this is fun from start to finish.
Startup Sound - Posner
A celestial, meditative opening, with chimes and birdsong creating a lush, sonic backdrop. Drum and bass style percussion glides in; joined shortly by a gorgeous sub bass sound. This ambient drum and bass flavored endeavor features fantastic sound design; and is a song to listen to by yourself and explore the curiosities of the mind.
Liquid Mirrors Crossing - XSARPROD
I immediately was drawn to this by the artwork. This is taken from ‘Artist Series Beat-Tape Vol2’ - and is eerie, chilled and experimental hip-hop, one that will take you on an uneasy adventure to a Halloween-like dimension.
Copacabana - Surekid, Sad Falafel
Warm, enigmatic, old school style hip-hop at its best. Featuring analog drums, gorgeous sampling, and the faint, mysterious sounds of saxophone; this is one to listen to at midnight; as you enter the realm of nighttime.
At Midnight - Dorkus64
Let this play as you embark on your midnight adventures; and create your own inner game world. Follow Yourself is imaginative and gentle, featuring tich warm pads, with slightly alien-like synth lines. Listen to the full album ‘ Follow Yourself’ here.
