Shygirl - Cleo - Edit

Article photo - Hot Electronic: April 2022 Edition

Opening with a deeply haunting string section; Shygirl’s silky vocals glide over the orchestral arrangement, “I can play anybody, I can be your fantasy”, while early 2000s style electronics slowly begin to rise under the wall of strings, before transforming into a dark, electronic fuelled instrumental, with icing-like vocals coaxing you into this night-time world.

Planet 1999 - crush

‘Crush 'is the latest release from London-based band Planet 1999. The intro alone makes me re-experience the thrill of having a crush on someone when I was a teenager in the mid-2000s; this song acting as a direct portal to youth in that era.

Supershy, Tom Misch - Happy Music

This song is glorious.

Supershy is the new electronic project of Tom Misch;  Happy Music being one of the first releases for this project. Upon hearing this track for the first time, you would not be blamed for thinking that this is a house classic from another era, as everything about this bears the hallmarks and character of a classic. Happy Music features divine disco strings paired with a house beat, a throbbing disco/house bassline, all mixed together with delightfully addictive vocals. Put this on and soak in the joy of being alive.

yuné pinku - Bluff

Dreamy synths, 90s influenced drums, mixed with gentle vocals; this is made for sun drenched evenings where everything seems slightly dreamlike and surreal. Another fantastic production from the Malaysian - Irish bedroom producer.

Groove Armada (Logic1000 Remix) - My Friend

I recently came across producer Logic1000 when Rush was recommended to me on Spotify (check the psychedelic visualizer out here) and immediately had to hear more. My Friend is the most recent release from the producer; it being a remix of Groove Armada’s 2001 classic. This is fun all around.

Pink Pantheress (feat WILLOW) - Where you are

Article photo - Hot Electronic: April 2022 Edition

Every single song UK artist Pink Pantheress releases is addictive in manner that I have not experienced since the days of the early 2000s; this newest release seeing her team up with WILLOW, mixing 90s rock textures with a garage beat and electronic elements with a blanket of lush haunting vocals, Where You Are is gorgeous.
