As we start the new year, the punk-rock scene is already heating up with a wave of fresh tracks that bring all the energy, angst, and attitude I’ve personally come to love.
From rebellious punches to the face to atmospheric jams, January 2025 is shaping up to be a great month for the genre.
Dweller on the Threshold - Haunted Horses
Seattle’s Haunted Horses is back with Dweller on the Threshold, and it’s as intense and chaotic as you’d expect from this industrial-punk trio.
If you’re into dissonant textures, ominous vocals, and music that feels like a storm brewing in your chest, this one’s for you. Colin Dawson, Myke Pelly, and Brian McClelland have carved out a sound that’s equal parts anxiety-inducing and hypnotic—think Bauhaus meets Swans but with their own brand of energy.
If you ever get a chance to catch them live, do it—they’re known for turning the chaos up to eleven. For now, plug in, crank the volume, and let this one shake you up.

The Desire - Inside Voices
The Desire is one of Inside Voices’ tracks from their latest album If It Matters, a slow and patient emo and alternative rock that doesn’t rush to impress but does anyway.
The Desire is a slow-burner that pleasantly surprises listeners with its twists and turns, reminding us of Inside Voices’ knack for saying so much with so little.

GOOD PARTY - JACK
GOOD PARTY by JACK hits you right where the confusion and chaos of youth meets the strange mix of regret and nostalgia. It’s got that blend of genuine emotion with a rebellious edge with lyrics that’ll remind you of your own moments of doubt, mistakes, and denial, all wrapped up in the hazy reality of life’s harder truths.
My favorite line “I don’t know why, but I don’t cry anymore” is a reflection on growing up, facing your mistakes, and trying to make sense of it all.
It’s messy, honest, and, at times, even a bit funny. Give it a listen on Bandcamp or Spotify!

Streetlights - TeethOut
TeethOut’s debut single, Streetlights, from their EP Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, has got that perfect 90s/2000s skate-punk vibe, the kind of energy that just makes you want to jump around and scream the lyrics.
What I love about Streetlights is how it taps into this universal feeling of waiting for something or someone to come along—it's a simple idea, but it hits hard. And you can really hear the band’s passion for it.
Josh, the lead vocalist, mentioned how the song has already hit nearly 5,000 listens on Spotify, which is impressive for a debut single, but easy to see why!
With Streetlights as the lead-off, I’m stoked to hear the rest of TeethOut’s debut EP.

Dissolve (feat. Kim Knogjärn) - Bloodtrust
Swedish hardcore outfit Bloodtrust may have only started in 2020, but they came in swinging like they’ve been doing this for decades!
Bloodtrust is the result of years of punk rock, metal, and hardcore influences crashing together, and their music carries the weight of that history. But it’s not just chaos—it’s a calculated storm that knows when to ease up just enough before pummeling you again.
Give this one a spin if you’re into hardcore punk rock!

Transmisja - Warroza
Warroza, a Polish punk outfit born in the gray, in late autumn of 2022, embodies the chaotic, DIY spirit of the underground. Transmisja is a testament to that ethos, an edgy and sarcastic punch to the face with lyrics about life’s absurdities.
Its accompanying video, filmed in their Bochna hall, is pure DIY magic also. A chaotic set of scattered TVs and handcrafted scenery sets the stage for Warroza’s gritty, unpolished aesthetic.
It’s clear that this isn’t just about the music—it’s about the experience, the camaraderie, and the joy of creating something together.
For fans of unapologetic, rootsy punk with a touch of DIY chaos, Warroza’s got you covered. Oi!

Passion (Single Version) - Coma Beach
Coma Beach takes a reflective journey back to their origins with Passion/Bliss (2025), the closing chapter in their Scapegoat Revisited EP trilogy, marking 30 years since their groundbreaking debut The Scapegoat’s Agony (1995).
Each track on this EP serves as a chapter in an emotional and existential odyssey, with Passion leading the charge as an anthem of disillusionment and yearning. Passion is a condensed and piercing revisit of the original album version, immersing listeners in the raw intensity and emotional unraveling of the unnamed antihero’s troubled psyche.
For fans of punk and alternative rock with a taste for storytelling and emotional grit, this is yours.

Slipping Away - Sex Mex
Slipping Away is punk rock at its finest: quick, visceral, and unapologetic. It's a song for those moments when you're ready to break free, even if you don’t quite know where you’ll land.
The chorus—“Slipping away, no more to say”—and the frantic pace show the urgency of the decision. It’s messy, it’s rebellious, and it’s everything you need to hear if you’re looking for something fresh.

Jimmy Checked Out - Whisky Famine
Whiskey Famine’s debut EP is here, and it’s an absolute rager. Jimmy Checked Out masterfully mixes the wild energy of punk with the traditional spirit of Irish folk, representing everything Whiskey Famine is.
If you’re into bands like Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, and The Pogues, you’re going to love what this Arizona-based band is bringing to the table. It’s like the perfect mosh pit soundtrack and an ode to the working class, with a catchy hook and raw energy that will have you shouting along in no time.
This is a perfect introduction to Whiskey Famine’s energetic, no-holds-barred approach to Celtic punk.
This band will bring a whole lot more raucous Irish-inspired punk to the stage in 2025 so, keep an eye on them!
