When you're producing music, your chair is part of your studio equipment. A typical session can involve several hours of editing, mixing, programming, recording and monitoring, often without much movement away from the desk.

That makes ergonomics particularly important. A good studio chair should provide appropriate back support while allowing enough freedom of movement for working with a keyboard, MIDI controller, mouse, synth or other equipment. Adjustable armrests can also be useful when switching between different studio tasks.

What Makes a Good Chair for Music Production?

The ideal chair for a producer isn't necessarily the same as the ideal chair for a conventional office worker or gamer.
